Who would have thunk it...

... that the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts outside of Egypt is in Turin?  The Egyptian Museum of Turin was an awesome surprise.    It was founded in 1824 through the acquisition of the collection from someone who had worked for Napoleon as the French Consul to Egypt.  The collection had 5,268 objects and later 25,000 more pieces were acquired.  The museum documents a period ranging more than 4000 years--truly amazing and worth the visit.
